Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014 Round Up

Here's a round up of my Top 10 designers from Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014.

Aza Kazingmein : Bizarre is beautiful or so they say. Aza Kazingmein presented his collection 'Changvei' at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014 that made use of a lot of black and leather. Flowing silhouettes, structured gowns and thick pleated leather brought his inspiration to life.

Huemn : Androgyny at its best. Need I say anything more? We are loving how Huemn puts comfort first. Well done Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty.

Mrinalini Chandra : Remember those chair and throne rings, earrings and neckpieces that were a rage and were spotted at every fashionable event and magazine? Well, those were created by Mrinalini Chandra. After the chair obsession, I could not wait to see what Mrinalini had in store for us. Her winter festive collection was named Shankuntala which was an ode to the beautiful lady and the life around her.

Outhouse : Outfit by one of my all time favorite designer Jatin Varma and jewellery by Outhouse. What an eclectic combination it was. Their collection was inspired by the regal look of Greece and Rome. I know what you are thinking... How is one even supposed to wear it?? If Lady Gaga can wear it even you can. Outhouse has revolutionized accessories by introducing fierce body harnesses, mohawk styled maang tikka's and tassled shoulder chain's.

Rocky S : Hair care brand Tresemme collaborated with designer Rocky S for the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014. I was one of those fortunate one's to have witnessed his jaw dropping and sultry collection. Not only did Rocky S impress us with his designs, but he created a storyline along. As the show begun, models walked down the ramp with frizzy hair complemented by Rocky's designs in white. Thunder and lighting occurred and the audience could feel light showers on themselves symbolizing Tresemme's Hair Spa Rejuvenation. The models were red carpet ready as they walked down the ramp with flawless hair and sequined backless outfits.

Ridhi Mehra : Intricate floral designs and mesh in fabrics such as chiffon, georgette and raw silk dominated Ridhi Mehra's Mystical Nuit collection. Lisa Haydon turned showstopper for Ridhi Mehra in a white and blue trail gown.
Payal Singhal : Payal Singhal's designs are always light weighted and give your body to breathe. Her collection was a blend of traditional and modern with churidar's with high low hem skirts. The unconventional modern bride or a bridesmaid would love to sport her designs.

Papa Don't Preach : Mauve, pink and lilac tones were spotted at Papa Don't Preach by Shubhika Davda. Studded stockings and glittery embellishments caught our fancy along with those super cool accessories. What we loved the most were the shoes!! Don't they just speak for themselves???

Zara Shahjahan : PopXo in association with Hello Pakistan brought four Pakistani Designers to showcase at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014 for the first time. Zara Shahjahan's collection reminded us of Elie Saab's designs. Intricate floral detailing with lots of glitter added the right amount of feminine glamor to her collection.
Shantanu and Nikhil : Designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil partnered with mineral water brand Himalayan to showcase a nature inspired couture collection. Fishtail gowns, thigh high slits and embroidered lehenga's were key pieces to this collection.

Love,
Sarika Nagdeo
