What to Wear to College

The Summer is about to end and the monsoons are already settling in some parts of India. Come June and all fresh school and high school pass outs are getting jitters about their new college and new friends. But, what fears them the most is the questio  - "What to wear to college?"
I remember standing in front of my closet and trying out every single piece of clothing the night before my first day. Despite of prior shopping, I could not figure out the best 'first impression' outfit. Trust me, I regret each and every single piece I bought off the streets of Bandra. Four years back, there really was not much of online shopping and high street brands were much more expensive than what they are today.
Today, as I enter my final year of college, I believe college students have left no stone unturned with regards to expensive labels, street or online shopping. But, what I also noticed was that a lot of girls try to imitate others and they end up making a fool of themselves. Role models, bloggers and celebs are there to guide you to looking your best but you need to experiment a little and understand what suits your body the best.
Since, most colleges do not allow their students to wear revealing outfits such as shorts and skirts. You can make do with printed or colored trousers paired with a variety of tops.
If you have plans to go shopping, I suggest, shop online. Even Zara, Forever 21 and Mango have become super affordable and you do not want your classmate wearing the same top. Online shopping kind of makes your outfit exclusive.

Here is my guide to wearing subtle yet stylish clothes in your budget :

Limeroad Reach For The Stars Racer Back Top for 599 Rupees. Buy here : Loose Racerbacks are very comfortable when paired with shorts or jeans. Since you are at college, make sure you invest in a strapless bra. I have often spotted teachers scolding the students for their colorful bra peek-a-boo's.

Yep Me Carol Crop Top - 299 Rupees. Buy here: Crop tops have been a ranging trend since the past year. Trust me, they are completely wearable to college without a flashing stomach. Pair up your crop top with high waist jeans or wear a contrasting color tee underneath.

Stalk Buy Love Bright Bloom Top - 649 Rupees. Buy here: A floral top can be easily worn solely or underneath a solid color blazer. And, if your college does not restrict you, pair it up with a leather skirt.

Myntra Riot Women Blue Print - 599 Rupees. Buy here: I love how easily one can slip into a tank top. The color and print texture is perfect for the monsoon season. Pair it up with your good old ripped jeans!

Jabong Meira Mega Sleeves Blue Solid Top- 399 Rupees. Buy here: For all those super boring lectures at college, add a little vibrancy and beat the monday blues with this super comfortable blue top from Jabong.

Shopnineteen Double Love Printed Layer Top - 499 Rupees. Buy here: I have been constantly asked by friends about where to buy aztec print. I think aztec has been overdone and I do not adhere to what everyone is wearing. But, if you are still obsessing over aztec, Shopnineteen has the perfect aztec combo! Tuck it in your black jeans and leave people guessing if it is a crop top ;)

Invest in some printed bottom wear and pair it up with a basic solid color tee.

Youshine Sombre and Svelte Leggings - 999 Rupees. Buy here

Jabong N-Gal Multi Printed Legging- 299 Rupees. Buy here

Myntra Tokyo Talkies Women Blue Floral Print Trousers - 539 Rupees. Buy here

Flipkart Tokyo Talkies Skinny Fit Women's Jean - 650 Rupees. Buy here

And remember, wear comfortable clothes and define your own style.

Lakme Youth Infinity Serum and Day Creme Review

As I turned 20 last year, the dreaded thought of ageing left me cribbing about turning a year old. Don't we all imagine ourselves with wrinkles and fine lines? I must say, it is not a good picture. Lakme's Youth Infinity claims to brighten and lighten your skin with a sculpted 20's look. I have been using the Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Serum and the Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Day Creme for over three weeks now. Here's my experience with the product:

Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Serum :

I love beauty products with attractive packaging and especially with pump tubes that help in less wastage. The serum comes in a purple bottle with a silver twist to open pump dispenser. The serum is light in weight and travel friendly.

My Experience :

Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Serum has a very light texture. And, I mean extremely light! After application on your face, the serum changes its color to pink. Well, I do not know if it changes to other colors too. But, mine was a very lightish pink. It has a floral fragrance which dies out in a few moments. I used the sculpting regime that I got with the product. I used the serum right after cleansing my face in the day and night. For almost a week of regular application, I noticed no results. But, gradually, my dark circles lightened and my skin started glowing. Yes, it did tighten my skin slightly. But, I suggest if you are in your 20's or you are turning 20, start using this product as a daily skin regime. It won't do you any harm! Since, the serum is extremely light, it gets absorbed in the skin immediately after application and does not leave the skin oily.
To know more, my mother applied the product too. She has wrinkles and fine lines. The serum is great at lightening the skin but it did no good at reducing her wrinkles. We suggest, use the product is you are in your 20's to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. But, if you have aged already, do not expect the product to magically disappear those wrinkles and tighten the skin.

Overall, I would repurchase this product.

Price :899/- for 30 ML. Yes. Quite expensive.

Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Day Creme SPF 15 PA++:

Packaging: The Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Day Creme comes in a purple plastic tub. Kudos to the Lakme Team, for the Youth Infinity range packaging. The color stands out, looks elite and attractive.

My Experience : The Lakme Youth Infinity Skin Firming Day Creme SPF 15 PA++ has a very heavy consistency. It feels greasy and heavy on the skin after application and leaves the face white. Thumbs down for that. It has the same fragrance as the serum. I have very oily skin and the cream left the skin further oily. It promises smoother and fairer skin and it lived upto its claim. My skin did feel smoother. What I like about this product the most is that it contains SPF 15 PA ++
A few sunscreen labels have a PA ranking, which refers to the amount of protection the sunscreen offers from the UVA rays that cause long-term skin damage. PA rankings are listed as PA+, PA++ or PA+++. The more +'s, the more protection from UVA rays.

Overall, I would not repurchase this product.

Price: 699 for 50 g

Friday Fab Facebook Find - Bliss Box

Accessories are like vitamins to my body. As a kid, I always fancied wearing all kinds of accessories, especially long and heavy danglers. Hence, I am always on the lookout for pretty jewels.
What recently caught my eye was BLISS BOX - an online fashion store for accessories. Bliss Box was started by these two beautiful ladies - Meghna Sahijwani & Simran Jagwan.
Bliss Box is a one stop shop for all kinds of accessories. Yes. They have everything you ever saw at a high street store or on the ramp. Intricate jewels and beautifully crafted, these accessories are bound to add that extra oomph to your ensemble.
After going through their facebook album, I just could not pick one favorite. I loved them all.

When in Doubt, Wear RED

It is amazing how a swipe of red lipstick can either make or break your outfit. Put on some red lipstick and see your confidence rise, or so they say. Hence, this bold and daring red color has become a makeup essential transforming a casual chic girl to high on glam! But, the ideal red lipstick has dramatically undergone changes over the years. From crimson red to oxblood red, this variety of red lipsticks can put any girl in dilemma over choosing the perfect lipstick.
When I think of red lips, famous celebs like Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Teese and Audrey Hepburn come to my mind.
So the brouhaha around the 67th Cannes Film Festival is finally over with bloggers and magazines talking about the best and worst dressed celebs at the event. But what made them the best and the worst could also be their makeup. Eh?

We have compiled a list of celebs who donned various shades of red on their lips at the 67th Cannes Film Festival. Who do you think rocked this shade better?

Cara Delevingne:

Freida Pinto:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:

Blake Lively:

Paz Vega:

Sonam Kapoor:

Isabeli Fontana:

Can’t decide which red lipstick to choose? We suggest MAC’s Lady Danger with hues of orange and red.

Quick DIY

Are you cribbing about the summer vacations like I am? Well, fret not, I have something that could keep you occupied throughout the week. Unlike other mothers, my mother never kept me away from the scissors in my childhood. My first DIY was cutting up my mother's dupatta to make a dress for my Barbie Doll. Remember those days when we stole our mother's scissor and tried to tear our denims to look cool? Haha.
So here I am urging you to take those scissors and start DIY'ing! All the DIY's are self explanatory but still, if you need more details do leave me a comment!

1. DIY Spiked Hoop Earrings : So my hoops lost their charm and color. Hence, I stopped wearing them. I just slipped in a few spikes on the hoops and Tadaaa!!!!

2. DIY Braided Charm Bracelet : My favorite things in life are love, beaches, the key to my heart and music. I braided a bracelet with a toy thread and looped these repainted charms that I found at home.

3. DIY Stationery storage : We all have got those stupid mugs on our birthdays. Haven't we?? Inspired by the Love From India Scarf, I repainted this mug with fabric paint.

 4. Aztec Printed Sunnies : So as you can see I did not take care of my sunglasses and the color ended up rusting. I took a toothpick and my black nail paint and started painting over them to hide the black rusted spots. This has to be my proudest DIY! ;)

5. DIY Nail polish remover : Take a utensil scrubber and place it in a box. Pour some nail polish remover and remove your nail polish quickly. Also, it saves a lot of nail polish remover! Plus, it's the perfect DIY for lazy people like me.

6. DIY Floral ring : Take a U Pin and mold it according to your finger size. Attach a floral earring in it and there you go! :)

If you need any further help with DIY's, do let me know :)
Here's a list of my former DIY's incase you missed them:

1. DIY Hair pin tribal necklace
2. DIY Spiked Envelop Clutch
3. DIY Geometric Necklace made from Straws
4. DIY Denims

Also, I would love to see your DIY's too.. Post them on my Facebook page and I will share it with my followers :)

Love in the time of Summer

"I’d rather have flowers around me than diamonds around my neck"

For the past month, I have been noticing fashion bloggers layering up their clothes with blazers and donning numerous accessories. I really do not understand that why is their post termed as ‘Summer Fashion’ when it is practically impossible to wear a blazer in the heat. The month of May is getting hotter with each passing day and has definitely transformed me into a minimalist dresser. I cannot wear several heavy neckpieces around my neck at work and perspire. Hence, I opted for a white camisole paired with a cotton blue shirt. Now, we all know that the color white resists the heat and cotton allows better air circulation. Bid your heels goodbye and say hello to open toe flat footwear that allows your toes to breathe.

White Camisole – Bandra Road (100 Rupees)
Blue Cotton Shirt –
Jeans – Forever 21 (670 Rupees ONLY)
Rings- Randomly collected from all over
Neckpiece – Bought while travelling in the train (20 Rupees)
Bracelet –
Floral studded earrings -
Sunnies – Bandra Road (100 Rupees)
Footwear – Sole’d Shoes
On my eyes  - Maybelline Colossal Kajal, Turquoise Colossal Kajal and Hyper Curl Mascara
On my lips – Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist Rust Crush
On my toes – Maybelline Downtown Red
