The Skirting Issue

Fashion’s own child Nishka Lulla has been spotted sporting all kinds of skirts long before they became a raging trend. After a lot of Instagram stalking, one can notice that Nishka is comfortable in whatever she wears. And, what could be more comfortable and chic than a skirt? From cute tulle skirts to a 9 to 5 formal knee length skirts, Nishka looks effortlessly stylish in them all. Here are our favorite skirts worn by her:

1. The Draped Maxi Skirt: A draped skirt layered with an embellished top. Could she look any more hotter?

2. The Cute Tulle: Who said you needed to be a ballerina to wear these tulle skirts? Look how adorable Nishka looks in a knotted crop shirt and a tulle skirt paired with sneakers. Also, we heart those heart sunnies!

3. Tribal Glory : Nishka completed her skirt look with a matching cut out crop top with a pink satchel, flats and danglers. We love the whole Hawaiian feel!

4. Matchy Matchy: Printed skirts and crop tops have become a rage! From geometric to floral, we cannot stop obsessing over them. Nishka completed her Global Desi attire with minimal accessories.

5. The 9 to 5 Skirt: We like how Nishka jazzed up her formal skirt with a pink blazer and a bright orange tee! Color blocking is sure the way to go to add oomph to a boring solid color.

6. The Desi Skirt: Sticking to her Indian Roots, Nishka opted for this colorful ethnic skirt. Boys, she is the girl you can take home to meet your mother.

7. The Sheer Panel Skirt: Dress it up or dress it down, a sheer maxi skirt is known for its versatility. Doesn't she look as sweet as a Le15 macaroon?

8.  The High Slit Pencil Skirt: A slit in the middle looks flattering and add just the right amount of sophistication. Wearing a slit skirt can be crucial if not styled right. Hence, take a cue from Nishka and stick to a neutral pallet.

9. The Metallic Skirt: Out of all the looks, this one is my favorite. There is just something about this pleated metallic skirt that could make anyone stand out.

10. The IT Maxi Skirt: A perfect fit, the right amount of sheer and length, this is the 'IT' Maxi skirt.

Summer Time Sadness

Whether it is the summer or the winter, Maxi dresses have become a wardrobe staple in my closet due to its versatility and free flowing fabric that accentuates my features with utmost comfort.

Key to wearing a Maxi Dress : Find the right fabric, cut, color, print and length that would flatter your body type. You can choose from a variety of footwear to wear over a maxi dress. A flip flop or sandal is perfect for the bohemian in you. You could also wear your maxi over high heels for a taller frame or wedges for brunch and official meetings.

Ways to wear a Maxi Dress: You could probably live in your maxi dresses without repeating the same style due to its versatility.
You could simply wear a maxi dress solely,
Layer it with a military or denim jacket,
Wear it underneath a sweatshirt,
Transform your maxi dress into a maxi skirt by layering it with a t-shirt or tank top with a loose neutral color cardigan.
Tuck a collared oxford shirt underneath the maxi dress with the right amount of collars popping out.

Today, I styled my Emerald Green backless maxi dress with black ankle boots, tear drop earrings and glitter cuffs. Also, I experimented a little and wore my layered chain necklace as back jewelry. (P.S. – I do not have the guts to wear a backless dress. Hence, this necklace was my savior.) My long luscious and hairspray fearing hair was braded into a two way rope bun.

Maxi Dress – XOXO
Earrings – Linking Road, Bandra
Necklace – Shop Violl
Ankle boots – Enroute
Cuff – Accessory Bug from
On my nails – Maybelline Color Show Downtown Red.
