Top 10 Hottest Covers of 2013

Femina August: The special issue of Femina celebrated the leading ladies from the 100 years of Indian Cinema with Deepika Padukone. Deepika is seen gracing the August 2013 cover in two contrary outfits. Deepika retains her ‘Cocktail’ look with the loose off shoulder top and printed skirt. On the contrary, she adorns a gold and black lehenga by Sabyasachi. Chic and Royal has won our hearts!

Verve July: Esha gupta was tagged as the ‘Pop art Diva’ by Verve Magazine. Sporting a green bandana, Valliyan’s gold ear cuffs, and turquoise eye shadow, Esha has certainly lured the audience! We are loving the contrasting vibrant colors. Very funky!

Grazia April: Frieda Pinto adorns the Grazia cover in a cut out Atsu blouse and Jewelled armor by Valliyan. The cover is sharp, bold and fierce. With no quintessential poses, pouts or smiles, we cannot take our eyes off Frieda’s jet black fringes and the Valliyan armor. Kudos to Ekta Rajani!

Grazia March: The one and only underwater cover shot by Colston Julian featured Angela Jonsson. She looked scintillating in a Rohit Gandhi+Rahul Khanna embellished blouse and a Dior necklace. Posing and looking pretty at the same time underwater must have been tricky! All we can say is ‘WOW’

FHM January: This Sri Lankan beauty sizzles in an unzipped denim jumpsuit and a polka dot bikini. Cute and raunchy at the same time! She adds a pop of color with the Orange wayfarers. All we can picture now is Jacqueline at a car wash with that bandana and soft beach curls.

Harpers Bazaar October: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan raised the temperature with their sizzling chemistry in the October Bridal Issue of Harper’s Bazaar. This exotic photo shoot take place in the Maldives where Kareena is seen wearing an Alberta Ferreti purple gown while the Nawab wore an off white Tom Ford suit. Wouldn’t we all love to do a photo shoot with our beloved in the Maldives??? Yes, we would!

Elle September: Dark skinned beauty Lakshmi Menon lures the camera and our attention in the Elle India cover. After the demise of Prabuddha Das Gupta, she had been off the paparazzi radar. She was back with a bang with a pixie haircut, fierce ear cuffs and a Gucci Fall dress.

Filmfare January: This Filmfare issue is not less than any sugar high! Unlike the other nagging ladies who are behind their respective men, reminding to shave! We would request Ranveer to grow that Ram Leela moustache again! Yes, he looked smokin’ hot with that moustache and his perfectly sculpted body! Why, Ranveer, why did you have to shave??

Elle October: The Style Icon of Bollywood looked sensational in a regal blue gown with mesh details by Amit Aggarwal, spiked maang tikka and a Ear Cuff by Suhanie Pittie. The cover was shot in the beautiful city of Istanbul. From the dresses, accessories and to the interview, this issue is inspiring!

GQ August: Here is some eye candy for the men out there! Sonam Kapoor was seen in probably the sexiest shoot in the August issue of GQ magazine. The Bollywood style icon spoke about her personality and sex appeal. She raised the temperatures in a Red bikini by Atsuko Kudo. The boys wouldn’t have missed her cleavage peek-a-boo!

P.S.- Ranking in no particular order.

Dhoom 3: Hot or Not???

Costume Review:

Bollywood movies have become popular for their out an out plagiarism. We were familiar with the copying of the plot, the soundtrack and now with the release of the much awaited film Dhoom 3, the noticeable costume resemblance.
Remember the Dhoom 3 poster featuring the silhouette of Aamir Khan against the twilight lit city foreground?? Well, that was copied too!

With all due respect to the costume stylists for Dhoom 3, I have only one question. Were you running out of clothes or just more ideas??

We were in awe of Katrina’s hip shaking moves in the title track as well as in the song ‘Kamli’. But choreography alone cannot entertain the audience. Not only did the plot leave us disappointed but also did the costumes.

Let’s take a look at who wore what and the Copy Kat!

The red bodysuit with gold tassels resembled Rihanna's outfit from one of her stage performances. The only noticeable difference is that the color of Riri's bodysuit was gold and silver.
I simply adore Nikhil Thampi and all his creations! Especially this very belted thigh high slit gown. Beyonce created a rage with her song "Girls(Run the World)" and hence one cannot fail to observe the imitation.

First Kangna Ranaut and now Katrina. Yes, we all would like to be Anne Hathaway from The Dark Knight Rises. But, we do not get inspired oops. did I say inspire?? Err, we do not copy her costume!
Did Kangna copy Anne? or did Kat copy Kangna??

Beyonce is a style inspiration for one and all. Yes, and even for our dear Kat. Beyonce wore these red suede Casadei boots in her Mrs. Carter World Tour. Katrina took a leaf from her and wore the same in gold.

No, this time we are not talking of Katrina. But, Aamir Khan. Yes, the Mr. Perfectionist has lost some perspective in his styling or maybe he has been preparing for Ghaijini 2?
Mr.Khan is seen wearing the same white suit with a black bow. Notice the same pose too??

Bollywood Vs Hollywood has always been prevalent when it comes to costumes. But, Bollywood Vs Bollywood??
Which color do you like the most?
The neon green bralette worn by Priyanka Chopra for her debut single 'Exotic' or the fuschia pink worn by Katrina in Dhoom??

Wasn't this transparent glittery dress passé?? Jennifer Lopez gave a scintillating performance in this dress at the American Music Awards in the year 2011. Two years later, our very own Priyanka was seen in a similar dress in her debut single 'Exotic.' And now, Katrina didn't shy away from the limelight after copying the same dress.

Yes, again Priyanka Chopra and her exotic costume. Frankly, we are tired with this copy Kat.

Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist - Rust Crush

I can be a little biased when it comes to Lakme products. Well, for one reason, the first ever product that I used as a teenager was the Lakme Natural Marble compact. And since then, Lakme’s quantity as well as the quality has never disappointed me!

For college days or days when I don’t feel like to dab on my lipstick, Lakme’s Rust Crush is a winner!

For someone like me who is constantly scared to experiment with bright colored lipsticks, Lakme’s Gloss stylist comes in handy.

The packaging is cute and travel friendly. It comes in a transparent rectangle box with a silver metal finish.

What I really liked about the gloss stylist was that in spite of having a shimmery effect, it was not intense.

The one and only drawback about this product is that a single stroke doesn’t give you an opaque finish. A single stroke will give you a semi-transparent nude coverage. So, you might as well skip that nude lipstick and opt for the rust crush.

The gloss stylish lasts for about three to four hours depending on your meals.

Price- 700 rupees for 5ml. (Expensive, but worth it)

Available in other pastel colors too :)

Have you tried the Lakme Absolute Gloss stylist? Comment and let me know!20131124_162012

2013 Autumn Trends - Guest Post

All You Wanted To Know About Trends for Autumn 2013

As we get in the autumn in many parts of the world, it is actually the time to look ahead of the spring and summer trends that seem now to be boring. Here is a close take at the trends of the autumn and all you needed to know to stay in vogue. It is pertinent to mention here that there will be soon new trends on the block from new designers. These will just give you a hint what may rule the ramp and the stores in the coming months, and what clothes online you can invest into.

Trend 1: All in white:

For the summers, we had all the colours to try on, and everyone seemed to love the trend of more colours and patterns. Designers for their fall collections have come up with a unique choice of white for an entire outfit, starting from head to the toe. Are you short on budget? Don’t worry, the trend will ensure that you have something to mix and match for every kind of look. The style is simple and easy to afford and ensemble.

Trend 2: Typical Patterns:

Don’t go by the word, when we say typical, we mean classic in every aspect. There are some amazing patterns that came back in the limelight, which includes large mixed prints, leopard prints, and pinstripes to name a way. Every other design that seemed to be rocking in the past is a rage in the present autumn season. Victoria Beckham was one designer who seemed to be extremely impressed with the idea for her collection.

Trend 3: Green at its best:

The colourful shades of green were looking enchanting in the collections of many designers such as Richard Chai Love and Marc Jacobs. Look for the most unobvious colours such as army green and emerald, and you will be surprised to see how it complements your skin tone and sense of fashion. Smart, elegant and truly rocking!

Trend 4: Slouchy Pants:

Avoid those cropped pants and well fitted ones for some time in the autumn as this is the season that is all about loose pants. With narrow cut and loose detailing, such pants look worth millions when pair with heels and medium sized handbags. For the top, keep the details simple. The design proved to be a jackpot in collections of designers like Prabal Gurung and Calvin Klein.

Trend 5: Unique Outerwear:

Think of Outerwear for the season in varied shapes combined with high heels. There are so many different ideas for coats with shapes and colours that can surprise any fashionista. Ideal for your weekends and casual hangouts, these kind of outwear must be at least in two different shapes in your collection. If you are looking for some inspiration, look for the collection of Marchesa and Altuzarra.

The Six Yard Wonder

The six yard unstitched fabric looks elegant and sensual when draped on a lady.

An Indian saree has undergone the test of time. But, there’s a flattering twist to the modern era saree. With sarees becoming more contemporary, quirky and lighter, we no longer see the quintessential plain saree with an attractive border. Designers are experimenting with prints and vibrant colors. We love Yogesh Chaudhary’s Pacman print and Masaba Gupta’s shutterbug chic and lipstick blot print.Apart from the six yards, designers are opting for jackets and knitted tops instead of the prototypical blouse.

But, today is not a quirky day! It’s the wedding season and the quintessential saree works wonders! Consequently, I almost received a marriage proposal! Being a modern woman, this very saree helped me transit between the contemporary and ethnic society.

[caption id="attachment_367" align="aligncenter" width="235"]Saree - From my mother's collection Saree - From my mother's collection[/caption]

Since, the saree was simple, I chose to do a smokey eye effect with a winged eye liner and red lips(which has worn out due to the amount of food and drinks).

I kept the accessories to a minimal by wearing two gold kada's and a gold jhumka.

DIY Cropped Tee.

I have always had an inborn ability to take a pair of scissors and cut out old apparel. Unused clothing intimidates me to take up a pair of scissor and upcycle it into a beauty! A few weeks back, my mother asked me if she could use my old lab coat to clean the windowsills with it. Hence, I thought of upcycling my lab coat. You can wear the crop top with printed skinny tights or pair it with with ripped denim jeans.

Today, we transform a lab coat into a cropped t-shirt.

  1. Cut your labcoat or a shirt along the dotted lines. I decided to try a high-low asymmetrical top since its awkward for a few of us to flaunt our tummy.

20130601_172050_20130601183950726This is how it should look!

2. Now, to enhance your cropped tee, start STUDDING! Start with laying down your studs on the pocket. Heart or a Star? Well, the decision is yours! :)collage13

3. Next, glue some colorful gems to your shirt collar.

Isn't it easy peasy? You can also dye the crop top for an ombre look.
